From the summer of 2021 JOS successfully delivered the 180m long rail tunnel. We poured the 6m high, 1.25m wide walls in 20m bays using the EFCO shuttering system. We managed the significant risks of working at height, extensive lifting operations and long concrete installation periods to turn around the shuttering in an efficient sequence with a dedicated SSSTS trained Supervisor to co-ordinate the daily logistics.
The quality of the product was commended by our client; especially working through poor weather in the winter months.

The scheme was successfully delivered ahead of the Client programme. This was facilitated by the re-design of the original pour sequence where we eliminated several construction joints and extensive temporary works. This also allowed better access for the beam installation and additional programme savings.
JOS completed the Northampton Gateway Rail tunnel works to the complete satisfaction of the Winvic team in a safe and efficient manner. They were proactive in problem solving for the betterment of the scheme.
